The UGA Veterinary Teaching Hospital’s Cardiology Service provides diagnostic and therapeutic services for pets that are affected by heart disease. To make an appointment with this service, a referral from your veterinarian is required. Learn more about our appointment process

The veterinary Cardiology Service regularly utilizes the following diagnostic tools to aid in the management of heart and vascular disease in companion animals:
  • Echocardiography, including two-dimensional, M-mode, and Doppler technologies
  • Electrocardiography (ECG)
  • Ambulatory ECG monitoring, including Holter, event, and implantable loop recorder monitoring
  • Radiography (X-rays)
  • Angiography and angiocardiography
  • Catheter-based hemodynamic studies
Our Cardiology service has two board-certified veterinary cardiologists on staff, as well as a resident, and a registered veterinary technician. The UGA Veterinary Teaching Hospital is an accredited ACVIM Cardiology residency training center.
