LYMPH NODES
  • Lymph node aspiration cytology is a commonly used diagnostic technique.
  • Lymph nodes are involved in many local and systemic infectious, immunologic, and neoplastic disease processes.
  • Peripheral lymph nodes (e.g., mandibular, prescapular, axillary) are readily accessible to fine needle aspiration.
  • Enlargement of any lymph node is indication for cytologic examination.
