RVT- Anesthesia Service Area

The Anesthesia Service Area is seeking an experienced RVT to administer anesthetics to veterinary patients, including but not limited to domestics,
exotics and large animals. The position also will instruct veterinary students, rotating tech school seniors, fellow technicians, and other personnel
in veterinary fields in the administration of anesthetics and the use of anesthesia equipment. The successful RVT will have knowledge of the
pharmacological effects of a variety of anesthetic and pain management agents. In addition, the RVT will perform and teach competent catheter (venous, arterial, urinary) placement, regional anesthetic nerve blocks and intubation skills in a variety of species. Other duties managed by the RVT are maintenance
and care of anesthesia related equipment, knowledge of drug handling, usage (both indications and contraindications), dosage, calculations and routes of administration, checking on expiration dates, daily inventory of controlled substances in accordance with DEAregulations and competently instruct
others in drug use and dosage. Anticipate clinicians’ needs. Triage complications and identify and treat emergencies.
The VTH Anesthesia service area is a fast paced unit that services both small and large animals. The successful RVT candidate will show agility in
handling multiple priorities while maintaining keen attention to providing superior patient care to cases they are assigned. This person will be
resilient, self-managed, professional and have exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
