TVDIL Two Senior Veterinary Anatomic Pathology Residency Positions
The Tifton Veterinary Diagnostic and Investigational Laboratory (TVDIL), College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Georgia, Tifton, Georgia, is seeking applicants for 2 post-DVM non-degree senior residency positions in veterinary anatomic pathology. One position is available immediately and the start date is negotiable. Start date for the second position is July 1, 2017. These positions have an end date of September 30, 2017 and August 31, 2018, respectively. The TVDIL is a full service, AAVLD accredited, NAHLN level 2 laboratory with histopathology, clinical pathology, necropsy, virology/serology, microbiology, and molecular biology sections. These positions are intended to increase pathology diagnostic services for food animal owners and practitioners in areas of food animal veterinarian shortage in South GA. These positions are ideal for candidates seeking additional pathology training in a diagnostic laboratory setting in a rural area. Candidates will receive training in pathology under supervision of 4 board certified pathologists. Successful completion of this program will prepare the student for certifying examination by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists. Participation in seminars, rounds, presentations at local and national meetings, and a scientific publication are expected of the resident. The resident is also expected to investigate outbreaks, herd health issues, and to visit farms with the laboratory field investigator. Interest in food animal pathology is desirable. Opportunities to interact with other anatomic pathology residents at UGA Athens and to attend seminars in Athens are available. The starting salary is $32,528 per year plus travel support to regional and/or national meetings, including pathology training courses. Applicants must possess a DVM or equivalent degree, must be United States citizens or be eligible for lawful admission to the United States, and must provide evidence of academic strength and interest in anatomic pathology. Minimal requirements for the applicants include: 2-3 years of formal anatomic pathology residency training and have completed phase I of ACVP board certification.
