About Our Open House
Our Open House, held annually in late March or early April, rain or shine, demonstrates the exciting and rewarding aspects of a career in veterinary medicine. There will be many demonstrations and exhibits about animals and/or highlighting the diverse career choices from which graduates in veterinary medicine may choose. Dates and details for the 2016 event will be announced in early 2016. The event is held on the main UGA CVM campus, located at D.W. Brooks Drive and Carlton Street.
In 2015, we offered guided tours of the new UGA Veterinary Teaching Hospital facilities (which opened on March 25, 2015) throughout the day. Please note that we had limited spaces available on these tours. Only attendees who signed-up, and who were escorted and shuttled to the new Hospital were given a tour. Only attendees 16 years old or older were provided a tour of the new Hospital.
Other interesting exhibits for Open House focus on topics such as the life of a veterinary student, computers in veterinary medicine, animal behavior, equine reproduction, herd health and others.
Admission to the Open House is FREE and the public is invited. Please pass along this information to individuals or groups in your community or school who might be interested in learning more about the rapidly changing and scientifically challenging world of veterinary medicine.
