SUMMARY:2025 Small Animal Surgery (canine focused)
DESCRIPTION:Management of Common Surgical Emergencies in Small Animal Practice\nRegistration is currently active. Registration closes August 8\, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. or until capacity has been reached. As of 7.8.25\, there are 3 registration spots remaining.\nThe program will focus on canine surgical emergencies commonly seen in small animal practice. Morning lectures will focus on pathophysiology\, stabilization and perioperative management\, anesthetic considerations\, surgical technique\, and post operative care. Afternoon cadaver wet labs will give participants a chance to practice procedures discussed that morning. \nThe course will be hosted at the College of Veterinary Medicine\, Classic Campus\, 501 D.W. Brooks Drive. \nRegistration is limited to 50 participants. \nCourse fee: $800 (includes a very light breakfast of pastries and coffee\, lunch both days\, and all lab materials) \n\nRegistrants will receive 16 CE hours for this course.\nAttendees should bring appropriate attire for cadaver wet lab participation\n\n2025 soft tissue CE agenda \nPresenters for this course: \n\nDr. Chad Schmiedt – Small Animal Medicine & Surgery\, Soft Tissue Surgery Service\, Veterinary Teaching Hospital; Alison Bradbury Chair in Feline Health\, Professor\nDr. Janet Grimes – Small Animal Medicine & Surgery\, Soft Tissue Surgery Service\, Veterinary Teaching Hospital; Associate Professor\nDr. Mandy Wallace – Small Animal Medicine & Surgery\, Soft Tissue Surgery Service\, Veterinary Teaching Hospital; Associate Professor\nDr. Brian Sutherland – Small Animal Medicine & Surgery\, Soft Tissue Surgery Service\, Veterinary Teaching Hospital; Assistant Professor\nDr. Rachel Reed – Department of Large Animal Medicine\, Anesthesia Service\, Veterinary Teaching Hospital; Associate Professor\n\nA couple of hotel blocks have been reserved.
