SUMMARY:61st Annual Veterinary Conference & Alumni Weekend
DESCRIPTION:**Registration closes February 23 @ 11:59 p.m.**\nThe 2025 Annual Conference has been set up a bit differently than previous years. Since veterinarians in Georgia only need 2 LEAP credits per renewal cycle\, and this is the first year in that two-year renewal calendar\, we are not offering any LEAP course credits this year. LEAP credits will be provided during the 2026 Annual Conference. \nThere are always requests for both large animal and small animal courses. However\, previous attendance for the split tracks has caused us to re-evaluate this offering. This year will offer combined lectures. \nScheduling multiple events within a two-day period does present challenges. Due to some of those scheduling challenges\, the total number of hours for this conference will only be 11.5 hours of CE credit. \nFinally\, based on feedback received throughout the year\, we are offering a lab component this year. There is a Clinical Skills Wet Lab registration option. The fee is $100 for the lab. There is a limit of 20 registrants per session\, with two sessions offered on Saturday morning. Both sessions will cover the same information. The topic is\, “Feed Me! Assisted Feeding in Critical Care Patients and Tube Feeding” for the Clinical Skills lecture segments on Friday afternoon. The wet lab on Saturday will focus on orogastric tube\, nasoesophaeal tube\, nasogastric tube\, esophagostomy tube; Why do we use each tube? DESCRIPTION:**Registration closes Feb 14 @ 11:59 p.m.**\nThe 2025 Feline Health Symposium will bring nationally known experts in feline medicine to UGA for a weekend of one-of-a-kind continuing education\, accounting for 10 hours of CE credit. Lectures will focus on feline behavior\, establishing a feline friendly practice\, updates on treatment of FIP\, the approach to feline fever\, SGLT2 inhibitors for treatment of diabetes\, updates on Feline Veterinary Medical Association guidelines\, recommendations for feline anesthesia\, and recommendations for managing upper respiratory infections in cats in shelter situations. DESCRIPTION:Elevate your exotic animal practice and zoological skills to the next level with the acclaimed endoscopy training programs from the University of Georgia. These courses have been specifically designed to teach the practical applications of endoscopy and endosurgery in reptiles\, birds\, & exotic mammals.  Whether you are a private practitioner\, zoo or wildlife vet\, intern\, resident\, specialist\, or academician\, this course will train you to perform minimally-invasive endoscopic procedures including internal examination\, biopsy\, and basic endosurgical procedures. \nA 2-day practical\, hands-on practical lab to develop and practice endoscopy skills (prior completion of the 16-hr online course required before lab). This course offers 16 hours of CE credit. Focused on reptiles\, birds & small mammal diagnostic procedures using the 2.7mm telescope system This is a practical course with very limited classroom time. Species vary and are dependent upon concurrent research projects but usually include turtles\, iguanas\, pigeons\, chickens\, rabbits and rodents. \nThis course is open to anyone that also registers for the on-line course (to be completed before in-person weekend) or who has completed the online course previously. DESCRIPTION:As part of our continued effort to promote the application of reproductive technologies\, the University of Georgia Extension and College of Veterinary Medicine are collaborating with E.I. Medical Imaging to provide a training course in bovine ultrasonography. \nThis 2-day course\, for veterinarians and veterinary students\, is divided into in-class lectures and hands-on training. SUMMARY:16th Annual Shelter Medicine Symposium
DESCRIPTION:We have reached capacity for the Shelter Medicine Symposium. Registration is now closed.\nMark your calendars for the 16th annual UGA CVM Shelter Medicine Symposium happening on January 27th\, 2024! This one day event will feature speakers from multiple areas of shelter medicine. This year’s Symposium is free to attend\, and all registrants will have breakfast and lunch provided. If you would like to receive a certificate for 7 hours CE credit\, please choose that option when registering. The cost for the CE credit is $70. Partial hours of CE credit will not be offered. Current topics include mental health in shelter animals\, FeLV testing guidelines\, and reducing length of stay. The Symposium will take place at the UGA Veterinary Teaching Hospital located in Athens\, GA. A registration link for Symposium will come out soon! \nFor catering purposes\, we ask that you complete the registration so we can have an accurate count of attendees.
