DESCRIPTION:This event is part of the department’s seminar series for graduate students. \n“Revisiting approaches to anthelmintic discovery in the age of resistance” \nDr. Mostafa Zamanian is an Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison\, School of Veterinary Medicine\, Department of Pathobiological Sciences. He earned his Phd in neuroscience at Iowa State University and completed a post-doc fellowship at McGill University and Northwestern University. Dr. Zamanian has two NIH T32 training grants; one in parasitology and vector biology and the other in genomic sciences. His work focuses on parasite biology and host-parasite interactions for mosquito-borne filarial nematodes\, soil-transmitted nematodes\, and snail transmitted blood flukes.

She works on the Program in Antimicrobial Resistance and Drug Discovery within the University of Minnesota Institute of Infectious Diseases. Dr. Selmecki earned her PhD in molecular\, cellular\, developmental biology and genetics from the University of Minnesota and completed her post-docs the University of Minnesota and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
