DESCRIPTION:This event is part of the department’s seminar series for graduate students. \n“Are our cows at risk of acquiring bovine TB from their human caretakers?” \nDr. Jason Lombard is an Associate Professor of livestock population health management and epidemiology at Colorado State University in the Department of Clinical Services\, College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences & AgNext. He earned his MS in epidemiology and DVM at Colorado State University. Dr. Lombard recently received the 2023 Veterinary Services’ Innovation Award for managing bovine Tuberculosis affect herds. He previously worked for USDA in Colorado.

DESCRIPTION:This event is part of the department’s seminar series for graduate students. \n“The Microbiome During Infection: a twisted tale of dogs\, diet\, and databases” \nDr. Dan Beiting is an Associate Professor of pathobiology at the University of Pennsylvania\, School of Veterinary Medicine\, Department of Pathobiology. He earned his PhD in immunology at Cornell University. Dr. Beiting works in the Center for Host-Microbial Interactions\, which focuses on research through the One Health perspective. His lab leads the MicrobiomeDB project and develops tools and methods to analyze and visualize complex datasets.

SUMMARY:16th Annual Shelter Medicine Symposium
DESCRIPTION:We have reached capacity for the Shelter Medicine Symposium. Registration is now closed.\nMark your calendars for the 16th annual UGA CVM Shelter Medicine Symposium happening on January 27th\, 2024! This one day event will feature speakers from multiple areas of shelter medicine. This year’s Symposium is free to attend\, and all registrants will have breakfast and lunch provided. If you would like to receive a certificate for 7 hours CE credit\, please choose that option when registering. The cost for the CE credit is $70. Partial hours of CE credit will not be offered. Current topics include mental health in shelter animals\, FeLV testing guidelines\, and reducing length of stay. The Symposium will take place at the UGA Veterinary Teaching Hospital located in Athens\, GA. A registration link for Symposium will come out soon! \nFor catering purposes\, we ask that you complete the registration so we can have an accurate count of attendees. This applies to free and paid attendees. \nIf you would be interested in purchasing a t-shirt on the day of the event\, please respond appropriately to the question that is a part of the registration. The responses to that question will determine whether or not t-shirts will be available for purchase. \n  \nWe will tentatively be offering tabling during the lunch hour! Please fill out the interest form below if your organization is interested in possibly tabling at this event. Tabling is not guaranteed and space is limited!
