SUMMARY:Bovine Ultrasound Training
DESCRIPTION:As part of our continued effort to promote the application of reproductive technologies\, the University of Georgia Extension and College of Veterinary Medicine are collaborating with E.I. Medical Imaging to provide a training course in bovine ultrasonography. \nThis 2-day course\, for veterinarians and veterinary students\, is divided into in-class lectures and hands-on training. DESCRIPTION:This event is part of the department’s seminar series for graduate students. \n“Improving and integrating:  Creative solutions to diagnostic and surveillance challenges for parasitic disease” \nDr. Nils Pilotte is an Assistant Professor of biology at Quinnipiac University\, Department of Biological Sciences. He earned his PhD in molecular and cellular biology from the University of Massachusetts Amhert and completed his post-doctoral fellowship with The DeWorm 3 Project. Dr. Pilotte teaches variety of undergraduate courses in genetics\, molecular biology\, and tropical disease. His work focuses on developing and improving diagnostic strategies to study parasitic related neglected tropical diseases.

DESCRIPTION:This event is part of the department’s seminar series for graduate students. \n“Investigating α-synuclein transmission from the gut: new models of Parkinson’s disease” \nDr. Danielle Mor is an Assistant Professor at Augusta University\, Medical College of Georgia\, Department of Neuroscience and Regenerative Medicine. She earned her PhD in neuroscience at the University of Pennsylvania and completed her post-doctoral fellowship at Princeton University. Dr. Mor’s research focuses on Parkinson’s disease and using high-resolution imaging and RNA-sequencing approaches to identify factors that lead to regulation of a-synuclein prion-like spreading.

DESCRIPTION:This event is part of the department’s seminar series for graduate students. \n“Physiological age versus chronological age: defining how temperature impacts the aging of the mosquito immune system” \nDr. Julian Hillyer is the Director of the Program in Career Development\, Professor of Biological Sciences\, and a Chancellor Faculty Fellow at Vanderbilt University\, Medical Center\, Department of Biological Sciences. Dr. Hillyer earned his MS and PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and completed his post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Minnesota. He teaches several undergraduate and graduate level courses in biology. His research work focuses on understanding the biology of pathogens in a variety of mosquito cells in the hopes of developing novel pest and disease control strategies.
