DESCRIPTION:This event is part of the department’s seminar series for graduate students. \nDr. Kathryn Reif is an Associate Professor and the Bailey-Goodwin Endowed Chair in Parasitology in the Department of Pathobiology at Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. Reif earned her PhD in Pathology from Louisiana State University in 2009 and completed two postdoctoral fellowships\, one at Washington State University and the other at United States Department of Agriculture\, Agricultural Research Service’s Animal Disease Research Unit. Her research focuses on parasites as vectors and vector-borne diseases in veterinary\, medical\, and agricultural areas. Read more about Dr. Reif’s research on her profile page.

She also serves as the Director of the Hope Clinic VTEU Research Laboratory. Dr. Scherer earned her PhD at the Scripps Research Institute in 2009 and DPhil at the University of Oxford in 2009. She also completed two postdoctoral fellowships\, one at the University of Washington in 2011 and the other at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center 2016. Named in honor of the “Rainbow Bridge” poem\, the Rainbow Bridge Memorial Walk will feature music\, remembrance activities\, community resources\, and a group memorial walk with luminaria honoring cherished animals who have passed. \nAs part of the UGA College of Veterinary Medicine\, we strive to provide exceptional animal care while offering a variety of support services to the community\, including grief support. The Rainbow Bridge Memorial Walk is an extension of this service. \nRegistration details coming soon!
