If requesting to use a UGA VTH-owned recipient mare for the term of her pregnancy and through the weaning period of the foal: In order to reserve a recipient mare, a $400 fee/horse (the “Hold Fee”) must be paid before an embryo transfer can be performed. Each Hold Fee will reserve a recipient mare for the calendar year. If a recipient mare aborts or an embryo is not identified at the time of the flush, charges associated with the embryo flush and transfer will not be refunded. In addition, if a recipient mare aborts past thirty (30) days gestation, the Hold Fee will not be refunded.
I understand as the Donor Mare Owner, I am responsible for investigating and understanding my desired breed organization and registry’s regulations and rules pertaining to assisted reproductive procedures before performing any embryo transfer(s).
I understand and acknowledge that embryo transfer (ET) in horses is considered an advanced reproductive procedure. While ET can be highly successful under optimal conditions, success is influenced by a variety of biological, timing, and environmental factors that may be beyond the control of veterinary personnel.

I understand that even when all reasonable steps and best practices are followed, it is possible that a flush attempt may not result in the recovery of a viable embryo. UGA VTH cannot and does not guarantee the successful recovery of an embryo following a flush attempt.
