Changes to Appointment Process

Please be aware that as of Monday, Jan. 10, our Veterinary Teaching Hospital and our Pet Health Center will be adjusting their appointment processes. Our small animal emergency service and the Pet Health Center will change to curbside service only (clients will not be allowed inside the facility). In addition, our small animal and large animal specialty services will change to a modified curbside service (clients can come into the building to check in and out, but they will not be allowed to stay for their appointment). These changes are in response to the highly contagious nature of the current COVID strain. As a healthcare facility, we must take these precautions to maintain a safe working environment that allows us to continue offering world-class veterinary care to our patients.

Our neurology team works closely with other hospital services, including our in-house rehabilitation service and our 24/7 ECC service, to provide the best care possible for cats and dogs suffering from neurologic-based conditions.

Advantages of working with the UGA neurology and neurosurgery service include:

  • Your pet will be cared for by board-certified neurologists with nearly 40 years of combined experience along with neurology residents and a cadre of registered veterinary technicians focused in neurology.
  • The strength of our 3 Tesla MRI unit and the speed of our 64-slice CT provides tools unparalleled in veterinary specialty hospitals enabling amazing image quality in a fraction of the time it takes others. This translates to more rapid and accurate diagnoses, ultimately allowing for faster implementation of therapy.
  • We can perform electrophysiologic evaluations in patients with nerve, muscle, and hearing disorders.
  • We are involved in leading-edge clinical trials aimed at improving the diagnosis and treatment of neurological diseases in animals, including investigations into brain cancer, epilepsy, and immune-mediated encephalitis.
