Biography
Dr. Garg received Ph.D. in Medical Microbiology from Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Science, India, followed by postdoctoral training from the University of Texas Health Science Center and the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Garg also spent a few years in the R&D divisions of pharmaceutical companies where she spearheaded the preclinical development of small molecules for immune and metabolic disorders. She has over 15 years of experience in translational research in the field of infectious diseases and immunology. Her work has centered around the immune pathogenesis of M tuberculosis and HIV-1 with particular emphasis on developing novel approaches for diagnosis, treatment and risk factors associated with occult TB and HIV disease. Her research is supported with funding from intramural, federal, foundation, and international sources.
