Tubulointerstital nephritis
Causes of tubulointerstitial nephritis

In this unit we will discuss nephritis, a general term for inflammation of the kidney. Nephritis is classified according to the primary anatomic site of involvement as:

a. glomerulonephritis
b. interstitial/tubulointerstitial nephritis
c. pyelonephritis

These divisions are not absolute as glomerular damage may eventually lead to secondary damage to the tubules (and vice versa).

This kidney is from a pig with ureteritis and pyelonephritis due to Eubacterium (Corynebacterium) suis.
