Were you inspired to become a veterinarian by reading James Herriot and wanting to work in a mixed animal, rural practice? Then Amicalola Veterinary Services is the practice for you! I am currently looking for a full-time associate with new graduates welcome. Get paid to drive through the beautiful North Georgia mountains, practice on all creatures great and small and meet some really interesting characters. I prioritize work/life balance and am located in Ellijay, Georgia, a charming town known as an outdoors lover’s wonderland yet also an easy hour + drive from both Chattanooga and Atlanta. The practice hours are 4 full days a week with the hours varying according to the season. In hot weather, you start out early in the field and come in the office for afternoon appointments. Winter cold is the opposite. You would handle the few emergencies that come along. I work hard on prevention and educating clients to avoid having emergencies. Amicalola has consistently grown each year and mixed animal, ambulatory practices are a prized and important asset in our community.
Salary commensurate on experience. All veterinary equipment provided. State association dues are covered and CE necessary for GA licensure. $1000 annually to your choice of health care plan. As Gilmer County is part of the Georgia Veterinary Education Loan Repayment Program, you would be eligible to apply for up to $20k of loan repayment for each year of service. Should you be a good match, enjoy the practice and are working well with clients and their animals, there would be other compensations such as profit sharing. I am willing to owner finance the practice at a low interest rate should the time come and you want to buy. I would cover one day a week and be available to mentor.
Requirements: A working interview is part of the hiring process. Licensed veterinarian with Cat 2 federal accreditation (easily obtained through APHIS website with free on-line courses meeting the 6 hours required). Driver’s license and a good driving record. References are required. You must pass drug testing and there will be a background check.
Pleasant personality with a good sense of humor and likes to work with people, as well as their animals. Problem solver, strong work ethic and moral character, and a heart for the needs of a rural community.
I am looking forward to mentoring my new partner in this fascinating and important work. Large animal veterinarians are a unique and important part of our field. Diversity of applicants welcome! Contact Dr. Ava Talmage for more details. firstname.lastname@example.org or 706-502-2989 (office)
