The Cameron Animal Hospital was established in June 1974 by Dr. Robert Cameron in Hazlehurst, Mississippi. The Cameron practice includes is 2,000 square foot building with 1.5 acres of land. The facility boasts of Idexx blood and urine machines as well as an x-ray machine with D. R. Technology. It houses 25 stainless steel cages, 10 dog runs, an exercise yard, cattle catch pen with a shoot, and a horse shoot. The clinic’s infrastructure, coupled with its strategic location and lack of direct competition, presents an ideal opportunity for a full-time veterinarian to step in and take the reins.

Current employees include a veterinary technician to assist with procedures, tests, and surgeries. She is also the bookkeeper. There is also an aide who is responsible for keeping the cages clean. The aide can also assist with surgeries as needed. Finally, there is a receptionist who answers the phone, schedules, and manages the office. For the past seven years she has also been trained to help with surgeries and exams as needed. The Cameron practice is an “all hands on deck” team.
