Student Colleague Position Description- Deadline for applications is March 15th.

The CVP Student colleague position is designed to augment veterinary school curriculum for students. We seek to support veterinary students as they improve and enhance technical, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
*80% of the student’s time will be scheduled as a veterinary assistant, performing specific hands-on duties governed by each hospital’s state veterinary medical practice act, the individual student’s experience level, and on mutually agreed upon student learning objectives.
*20% of the student’s time will be scheduled as a veterinary student colleague focusing on specific learning objectives and goals mutually agreed upon between the student and the onsite veterinary mentor.

Student directed development opportunities may include:
*Interpreting laboratory diagnostics
*Assisting with surgical and dental procedures
*Building confidence through case management presentations

The student’s summer job opportunities will consist of:
8-week learning experiences with flexible start and completion dates
35 hours per week of scheduled in-hospital time working alongside their mentor
Student Compensation and Benefits:
$4,000 stipend for 8-week learning experience
$2,000 housing stipend and housing location assistance
Expense paid trip to Philadelphia to attend the CVP “Vet-Together” event to meet other colleagues, mentors and participate in CE, networking and sightseeing fun!
3 months of access to VetBloom: our learning platform for clinical and professional CE and development opportunities
3 months access to the Ginger mental health app
Priority access to future employment opportunities within the CVP family of hospitals

Prerequisites for Summer Opportunities:
Student must be in good standing, and have completed at least one-year of curriculum in an AVMA accredited Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program
Student must have a primary interest in small animal practice and veterinary leadership
Must have SAVMA student liability coverage
