Job Description

The Veterinary Teaching Hospital has multiple shifts open now for our Emergency Front Desk.  The primary responsibility for this position will be to assist the Emergency Critical Care team on setting appointments and receiving emergency patients during evenings, overnights, weekends and holidays. The ECC Vet Asst. will assist clients in delivering their pets to the ECC team which may include lifting/restraining and transporting into the ER. This position will also answer phones, open patient charts in the hospital database system and process payments for services.

We offer shift differentials for staff that work overnights and weekends along with On Call pay and overtime.  The successful associate is one that can multi-task while maintaining professional composure in an emergent situation.  Many clients come to the VTH ER for the opportunity to have highly skilled Veterinarians and technicians to take care of their pet.  Our mission is to ensure that the service will be organized, timely, professional and meaningful.

The ability to talk to clients about their pet is a sensitive conversation.  This position will require a high degree of confidentiality, empathy, and the ability to discuss sensitive information about a pet that may be unpleasant.
