Job Description

The ECC unit of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital seeks an experienced, licensed Veterinary Technician that seeks to utilize their advanced skills in this dynamic, diverse unit.  The successful RVT will have knowledge in all areas of Veterinary technology for mostly small animals, with proven hands-on working experience with triage, CPR, advanced drug calculations, maintenance of central lines and chest tubes, as well as, transfusion of blood products. The RVT must possess professional communication skills to inform doctors and students concerning  the affected work flow, time limitations and patient status. Maintain a positive attitude, calm demeanor throughout stressful situations and must be well read to understand patient records, and have knowledge of medical condition processes.

Knowledge and ability to use all equipment in ECC including: ECG, pulse oximetry, direct arterial pressures, central venous pressures, IV Fluid pumps, syringe pumps, indirect blood pressures and oxygen cages.

ECC operates on a 24 hour schedule everyday of the year.  The successful RVT will be flexible in working varied shifts including weekends, holidays and nights.  The compensation package includes shift differentials, unit differential, on-call pay, eligibility for pursuing a specialty, CE  and Uniform budget.
