I rescued Max in 2011 when he was barely six weeks old. He was so thin you could see every rib and he was infested with fleas. I couldn't not keep him.
Five years down the road, in September 2016, Max was diagnosed with lymphoma in his liver and spleen. To make matters worse, he also tested positive for feline leukemia (FeLV) at the same time. This particular type of lymphoma carries a very guarded prognosis, especially in a cat who is positive for FeLV. I really thought I was going to lose him. We came to see the oncology team at UGA and he started on a chemotherapy (CHOP) protocol.
By February, Max had completed chemotherapy and was in complete remission! Today, he's still in full remission, and he comes in to the hospital for monthly checkups, but otherwise he is back to watching and catching butterflies in the garden. I can't thank the oncology team enough. Max truly is a miracle kitty!"
