Biography

Antoinette Russell obtained her B.S. in Microbial, Cellular, and Molecular Biology from Auburn University. She performed undergraduate research in a microbiology lab working with mitochrondrial copper metabolism as well as an immunolgy lab studing dendritic cell maturation and bacteriophage infectivity rates. Her research intersts include drug discovery and the development of diagnostic techniques for human diseases. Russell is currently working in Dennis Kyle’s lab to study susceptibilities to infection by the “brain-eating amoeba”, Naegleria fowleri, and to develop quicker diagnostic techniques for this deadly parasite.
