Information on promotion and tenure is available through the Provost’s website and the UGA Policy
Library.
Faculty preparing a dossier for promotion and/or tenure are advised to follow the university guidelines
for its preparation in addition to the respective unit criteria. These guidelines are now available through the university policy library.
Below are some of the more common guidelines we use in the College of Veterinary Medicine:
- 001 – Guidelines for Appointment, Promotion and Tenure of Academic Rank Faculty
- 004 – Guidelines for Appointment and Promotion of Clinical Faculty
- 003 – Guidelines for Appointment and Promotion of Academic Professionals
- 005 – Guidelines for Appointment and Promotion of Lecturers
- 008 – Guidelines for Appointment and Promotion of Research Scientists
Additional information that may be helpful to faculty are a quick reference guide and a tenure clock
calendar. Criteria for other faculty ranks are also available here.
Post-Tenure Reviews
Faculty who are promoted and tenured in the CVM are required to continue with an annual review and
at five years from last promotion will be reviewed by submission of materials to a post tenure review.
Under new policy, five successful annual reviews may be submitted in place of a summary document.
See your department head for information on the post tenure review process for your unit.
