SAVMA is a student-run organization that acts as the governing body for student issues within the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia and the umbrella organization for all of the student professional organizations. SAVMA’s goal is to enhance student learning while enabling the College of Veterinary Medicine to better serve the Athens community.  SAVMA also funds all of the student clubs within the college, such as the Canine Club and the student chapter of the American Association of Equine Practitioners.  Additionally, SAVMA sponsors seminars, speakers, conferences, and learning opportunities that enable students to enhance their education outside of the classroom. SAVMA also provides annual scholarships for outstanding veterinary students, funds student veterinary projects that serve the Athens community, and gives thousands of dollars each year to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital of the University of Georgia.

On February 3, 2024 SAVMA will hold its largest fundraiser, the annual auction at the UGA Veterinary Teaching Hospital. The student body and faculty of the College of Veterinary Medicine, their friends and family, members of the Athens community, and many members of the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association from around the state attend the SAVMA auction.

Donations:

Currently, we are accepting donations and would greatly appreciate any contributions that you wish to offer. In years past, donations have included merchandise, services, gift cards, etc.

Additionally, your business will be listed in the auction program and identified as a supporter of education, veterinary medicine, and the community. Items for the auction consist of donations from within the college, from various veterinary food and drug corporations, and from businesses in Athens and surrounding communities. For donations valued $50.00 or greater, we will place a company advertisement or logo in the auction program.
