In order to continue providing the highest quality service to our clients, the Georgia Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratories will have all cytology cases including fine needle aspirations, smears, and body fluids evaluated by boarded Clinical Pathologists. Anatomic Pathologists at Tifton Veterinary Diagnostic & Investigational Laboratory (TVDIL) have been evaluating cytology cases sent to TVDIL. Effective September 4, 2018, cytology samples received before 3pm at TVDIL will be forwarded to the Athens Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (AVDL) for next business day evaluation.
Effectively immediately, the UGA Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratories in Athens and Tifton now requires two pieces of information before test results and other case information can be provided on the phone:
• The submitting veterinarian’s license number
• The clinic/institution’s unique Laboratory account number
If the two pieces of identifying information cannot be provided, results can be sent via the preferred results transmission method on record in our system but will not be given verbally on the phone. We apologize for any inconvenience this additional security measure may cause, but the confidentiality of your test results is of utmost importance to us.
