Attention 4th year Students!

How do you go from being a well educated student to an exceptional clinician in just one year?

The internship at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists provides a depth and breadth of training that is unmatched, in an environment that is supportive and fun. We offer a generous salary, with the potential for long-term employment for those successfully completing our internship. Our program does an excellent job or preparing veterinarians for residency, or to be confident and highly skilled emergency doctors or general practitioners.

OSVS has 18 specialists providing advanced care in internal medicine, surgery, radiology, critical care, neurology, cardiology, oncology, ophthalmology, and avian/exotics. There are over 20 full time emergency doctors, as well as ECC and Surgery residency programs. Equipment includes digital radiography, CT, MRI, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, in-house laboratory, telemetry for EKG, mechanical ventilation and more.

Interns have their own patients with a diverse and challenging caseload, and the continuous availability of experienced ER doctors and specialists to guide them. There are structured lectures and labs to help teach important skills. Interns have the ability to customize their time on elective rotations to get more experience in their areas of interest. On emergency rotations, they do not just receive emergencies, but also spend many shifts managing inpatients with acute and severe medical conditions or injuries. They learn to manage a wide range of conditions beyond the initial stabilization phase, making them more well rounded, and prepared for whatever career path they choose.

We are located in Rhode Island, the beautiful Ocean State – and close to all of New England’s offerings. There is plenty to do for outdoors adventurers, arts enthusiasts, foodies, beach bums, and bar hoppers.

Apply through the VIRMP, or apply directly for off-cycle (Feb) start date.
