Nares, Nares Swabs, Choanal Cleft Swab, Trachea, and Tracheal Swab

Collection Protocol

Aseptically collect swabs and place them in appropriate virus transport media. Swabs can be pooled 5 swabs per tube. FLOQ, dacron or polyester swabs recommended. Alternately, collect tissues into a whirl pak bag. Freeze tissue or swabs until ready to ship. For international submissions: Swab or tissue impressions on an FTA card, allow the card to dry completely before closing, place in a ziplock bag with desiccant pouch and store at room temperature.

Shipping Requirements

Ship samples with ample ice packs in insulated container. For FTA cards, ship samples without ice packs in envelope. For international samples on FTA cards, please include the FTA international permit.
