Aseptically swab infected area or send fresh tissue. Bacterial cultures may be sent on slants or in broth. If needed, contact lab for specific protocols OR submit a pure bacterial culture.

Pure isolates are identified using bench tests, API strips, MALDI-Tof, 16s gene sequencing. MALDI-Tof and 16s are outsourced to the Athens Diagnostic Laboratory.

Monday - Friday; 3-10 business days
Shipping Requirements
Ship samples or isolates on slants with ample ice packs in insulated container. DO NOT FREEZE. If shipping isolated organisms, please ensure the appropriate permit (domestic vs. international, which can be found on our website) is included with the shipment.
