Collection Protocol
Aseptically swab infected area or send fresh tissue, package anaerobically. Bacterial cultures must be sent anaerobically on slants or in broth. If needed, contact lab for specific protocols.

Method
Pure cultures are identified using bench tests, Rapid ID anaerobic test, microscopy, MALDI-Tof, 16s gene sequencing. MALDI-Tof and 16s are outsourced to the Athens Diagnostic Laboratory.
Test Days and Turnaround
Monday - Friday; 3-10 business days
Shipping Requirements
Ship samples with ample ice packs in insulated container. DO NOT FREEZE. If shipping isolated organisms, please ensure the appropriate permit (domestic vs. international, which can be found on our website) is included with the shipment.
