Collection Protocol

Aseptically swab infected area or send fresh tissue, package anaerobically. Bacterial cultures must be sent anaerobically on slants or in broth. If needed, contact lab for specific protocols.

Method

Samples are plated onto appropriate agars and incubated appropriately to encourage bacterial growth. Isolates are presumptively identified using bench tests and microscopy.

Test Days and Turnaround

Monday - Friday; 3-10 business days

Shipping Requirements

Ship samples with ample ice packs in insulated container. DO NOT FREEZE. If shipping isolated organisms, please ensure the appropriate permit (domestic vs. international, which can be found on our website) is included with the shipment.
