Providing specialized medical care

UGA Winter Break

In observance of UGA’s Winter Break, we will be open for emergencies only from Thursday, December 25, 2025, through Thursday, January 1, 2026. If your animal experiences a medical emergency during this time, please contact our Emergency Services at 706.542.3221. We will resume normal business hours and operations on Friday, January 2, 2026.

Neurological Surgery Availability

Due to an injury to our on-duty neurologist from Dec 20-28, our neurosurgical services will be limited during this time. Please continue to refer suspected cases of disc herniation for hemilaminectomy as well as medical neurological emergencies. We may be unable to treat surgical emergencies involving the neck and cannot treat vertebral fractures at any location during this time. We recommend these cases be referred to other regional neurology services. Surgical neurological cases referred in on emergency will be evaluated and if we cannot provide the care needed, they will be referred elsewhere. Please make your clients aware of this. Thank you for working with us during this time when we are limited.

If you have a pet or animal that needs advanced veterinary care, look no further than our hospital. We operate similarly to a human specialty medical center and are passionate about offering the best care possible for your cat, dog, exotic animal, horse, cow, goat or other farm animal. Your animal will be cared for by a talented and diverse team that consists of licensed veterinarians (i.e., an intern, resident, and/or a board-certified faculty member), senior veterinary students, veterinary nurses, and hospital staff members. We bring years of experience to each case, and because we are a teaching hospital, we have a vast and highly specialized knowledge base from which to draw answers. We also have state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment and offer advanced treatment options.
