ORIGINAL RESEARCH PAPERS
Grounded in systems pharmacology—the pharmacology of integrated biological systems—my program bridges modalities and scales to explain and predict therapeutic drug response. As such, my publication portfolio is broad by design. To build predictive, translatable models, this work spans (1) comparative pharmacology and disease modeling studies to understand drug pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics across species; (2) experimental platforms such as adult stem cell–derived organoids to study disease pathomechanisms and reduce animal use; and (3) clinical studies in veterinary and human populations to validate and refine model-based predictions. What may seem diverse is, in fact, a single integrated in silico–in vitro–in vivo pipeline—advancing from mechanism to clinical outcome within a One Health framework.
PHYSIOLOGY & PHARMACOLOGY
(i) Cardiometabolism. This body of work focuses on the mechanistic evaluation and quantitative modeling of cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic systems across species. Studies span the pharmacologic modulation of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS), optimizing dose-response for ACE inhibitors and mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists, and characterizing the effects of glucocorticoids on cardiorenal physiology. A strong emphasis is placed on integrating pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) modeling, chronobiology, and biomarker-based outcome prediction to support translational dosing strategies. More recent work also extends into preclinical modeling of metabolic syndrome to assess pleiotropic therapeutic effects beyond weight modulation.

Overall, this portfolio supports the optimization of therapeutic targeting and diagnostics in veterinary and comparative ophthalmology.

IN VITRO MODELING – STEM CELLS
This research program pioneers adult stem cell–derived 3D organoid systems, primarily from canine and other veterinary tissues, as physiologically relevant models for translational research. These organoids recapitulate key structural and functional features of their organs of origin, enabling studies of epithelial barrier integrity, inflammatory signaling, metabolic adaptation, and drug permeability. Collectively, these studies position organoid platforms as robust, ethically aligned alternatives to animal testing and as next-generation tools for precision therapeutics in both human and veterinary medicine.

LARGE-SCALE HUMAN COHORT STUDIES
This portfolio combines population-based analytics with quantitative modeling to uncover predictors of disease resilience and therapeutic response across scales. Using large human cohorts such as the UK Biobank and ADNI, these studies apply advanced machine learning to integrate neuroimaging, vascular, metabolic, inflammatory, genetic, and lifestyle factors, identifying determinants of cognitive aging, super-aging, and neurodegeneration. In parallel, translational and mechanistic oncology modeling applies nonlinear and population pharmacometrics to characterize tumor growth, optimize dosing schedules, and improve efficacy predictions in non–small cell lung cancer using large clinical datasets. Together, this body of work spans large human cohort analyses to in silico modeling of treatment response, bridging population data with predictive pharmacology.
