Biography

Dr. Isha Mhatre-Winters is a postdoctoral researcher in Dr. Jason R. Richardson’s laboratory in the Center for Neurological Disease Research at the University of Georgia. She received her Ph.D. in Neurosciences from Kent State University, Ohio, and holds M.S. and B.S. degrees in Biotechnology from the University of Mumbai, India. Dr. Mhatre-Winters started her postdoctoral training in the Robert Stempel College of Public Health and Social Work at Florida International University, Miami. She has contributed abstracts for national and international meetings and won awards, including the Gabriel L. Plaa Education Award for Young Investigators and the Women in Toxicology Postdoctoral Fellow Achievement Award at the Society of Toxicology in 2023.

She is an active member of several professional societies and has been leading numerous collaborative projects across institutions. Dr. Mhatre-Winters’ research focuses on exploring the interactions between sex, genetic susceptibility, and environmental exposure with an emphasis on aging, neuroinflammation, and neurodegenerative diseases using translational approaches.
