Clinical Interests

Dr. Bryan is a medical oncologist treating companion animals with cancer. His research efforts have contributed to the expansion of immunotherapy for cancer in the veterinary clinic. He has also led the expansion of PET imaging of cancer in companion animals. He enjoys caring for animal family members while training residents in oncology to achieve the best outcomes with the least discomfort for the patients.

Research Interests

Dr. Bryan’s research focuses on comparative examination of cancers in companion animals to better understand cancers in all species. His particular areas of interest are targeted imaging and therapy, epigenetics, and immunotherapy of cancers including osteosarcoma. He has helped pioneer a T-cell immunotherapy approach that significantly extended survival for dogs with bone cancer, leading to USDA approval. Success in dogs helped pave the way for human clinical trials in brain cancer. His research team also collaborates with national partners such as the Mayo Clinic and the National Institutes of Health to test innovative CAR-T cell treatments and immunotherapies for lymphoma, sarcoma, and other cancers.
