Biography
John Fischer came to the Southeastern Cooperative Wildlife Disease Study (SCWDS) as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate in 1992 and worked as a researcher and diagnostician assisting state fish and wildlife management agencies in the southeastern, midwestern, and northeastern United States. He continued this work as an Assistant Research Scientist in 1997 and became Associate Professor and SCWDS Director in 2000. He retired in 2019 and continues to work part-time with SCWDS as Professor Emeritus and with non-governmental conservation-oriented organizations as contractor or volunteer.
