Biography

Shamaila Zafar is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. She is a neuroscientist whose research seeks to understand the biological mechanisms that preserve brain homeostasis and how their failure initiates neurodegenerative disease. By integrating experimental neuroscience with multi-omics approaches, she aims to uncover fundamental principles of brain resilience that can inform new diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for neurodegenerative disorders.
