Vlad Serbulea

Vlad Serbulea is a scientist and educator driven by a commitment to unraveling the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying cardiometabolic diseases, including atherosclerosis and diabetes. Motivated both by the high prevalence of these conditions in the world and by the pressing need for new therapeutic strategies, he has dedicated his career to bridging basic mechanistic insights with translational applications.

Serbulea has established a vertically integrated approach to preclinical research, using a combination of bioinformatics, cell culture, and murine modeling of disease. His long-term goal is to develop therapies to prevent and reduce the severity of major adverse cardiovascular events such as heart attacks and strokes. Along the way, he will train and mentor the next generation of scientists and educators.
