The Department of Small Animal Medicine and Surgery is dedicated to enhancing the science and practice of companion animal medicine through the teaching and mentoring of students, interns, and residents; by providing exceptional clinical services as part of the College’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital; and through advancing the knowledge of health and disease.
We provide instruction to DVM and graduate students in all areas of small animal medicine and surgery; have ongoing clinical and laboratory research projects; and provide public service to veterinarians and animal owners. In addition to providing veterinary care for animals, our faculty provide consultations and continuing education courses to practicing veterinarians throughout the region.
Internships / Residencies
We offer an internship and residency program if you’re looking to further your training in small animal medicine. All of our programs are clinical-based and allow you to gain valuable hands-on experience by assisting our board-certified clinicians with the care of animals at our Veterinary Teaching Hospital.
