What is Vet School for a Day 1.0?

Vet School for a Day (VSD) 1.0 is designed for high school sophomores (newly extended), juniors and seniors who are seriously interested in preparing for, and getting into, vet school. All materials must be received by or before Thursday, August 28, 2025. ALL applicants will be contacted to receive a decision on their participation.

The goal of VSD 1.0 is to educate students who have a keen interest in the many career opportunities that exist in veterinary medicine. The annual program is typically held in the fall and includes a tour of the UGA Veterinary Teaching Hospital, interactive learning with veterinary medicine representatives from different areas of interest, and an admissions overview.     • Recommenders can submit this form at anything and does not require waiting for the student to complete the online application
    • This recommendation form does NOT require submission of a letter or uploading a letter to our form

When is the open registration period to apply for Vet School for a Day?

There is an application process for this program and space is limited to 24-30 of the most qualified participants. Updates on the application period will be shared late July or early August. All materials must be received by or before Thursday, August 28, 2025. Applicants will be notified of their acceptance by Friday, September 5, 2025. Vet School for a Day 1.0 will be hosted on Saturday, September 20, 2025.

Who can attend Vet School for a Day?

High school sophomores (newly extended), juniors and seniors who complete the full application packet and are selected to attend Vet School for a Day 1.0, which will be hosted on Saturday, September 20, 2025. We also ask that all program participants be accompanied by ONE adult chaperone – a parent, counselor, or teacher. Because space is limited, we must restrict the number of chaperones to ONE per student participant. No additional guests or visitors are permitted beyond the student participant and one chaperone participant.

What is the cost to attend Vet School for a Day?

Student participants and chaperone participants must submit a $10 deposit fee each to attend VSD 1.0. If selected, the deadline to submit the deposit will be Tuesday, September 9th. Payment information will be directly shared with selected students and chaperones.

Vet School for a Day (VSD) 1.5 is designed for high school sophomores (newly extended), juniors and seniors and college students (newly extended) in South Georgia who are seriously interested in preparing for, and getting into, vet school. All materials must be received by or before Thursday, August 28, 2025. ALL applicants will be contacted to receive a decision on their participation.

The goal of VSD 1.5 is to educate students who have a keen interest in the many career opportunities that exist in veterinary medicine. The annual program is typically held in the fall and includes an optional tour of a college campus, panels with veterinarians, panels with current college students from South Georgia,  interactive learning with veterinary medicine representatives from different areas of interest, and an admissions overview. High school sophomores, juniors and seniors and college students from South Georgia who complete the full application packet and are selected to attend Vet School for a Day 1.5, which will be hosted on Saturday, September 13, 2025. We also ask that all HIGH SCHOOL program participants be accompanied by ONE adult chaperone – a parent, counselor, or teacher. Because space is limited, we must restrict the number of chaperones to ONE per student participant. College student participants do not require a chaperone. No additional guests or visitors are permitted beyond the student participant and one chaperone participant (for high school students). Additionally, students and chaperones will be required to drive to three physical site visits to gain an expansive experience of veterinary medicine facilities and services offered in Tifton, Georgia.

What is the cost to attend Vet School for a Day?

High school student participants with chaperone participants must submit a $10 deposit fee each to attend VSD 1.5. College student participants must submit a $20 deposit fee to attend VSD 1.5. If selected, the deadline to submit the deposit will be Tuesday, September 9th. Payment information will be directly shared with selected students and chaperones.

What is Vet School for a Day 2.0?

Vet School for a Day 2.0 is designed for prospective vet students who have completed high school and are either currently enrolled in college or have a college degree. All materials must be received by or before Tuesday, January 20th, 2026. ALL applicants will be contacted to receive a decision on their participation.

The goal of VSD 2.0 is to expose students who have a keen interest in the many career opportunities that exist in veterinary medicine. The inaugural program will be held in the Spring and includes a tour of the UGA Veterinary Teaching Hospital, interactive learning with veterinary medicine representatives from different areas of interest, and an admissions overview. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from our students on their career paths and experiences.
