The CBS PhD is a direct-admit program with rolling admissions throughout the year. Please note that applicants will not be accepted until they have identified a major professor (faculty mentor) within the college who is willing to serve as their mentor throughout the program. While the majority of our students begin their program in the Fall semester, admission during the Spring and Summer semesters is also possible. Additional information regarding application deadlines can be found on the Graduate School website.
Admission Requirements: Applicants must have completed a B.S. (or foreign equivalent) and/or professional degree (DVM, MD, DDS, etc.) from a USDOE recognized institutional accreditor with a minimum GPA of 3.00 (out of 4.00). The GRE is no longer required. Applicants must submit a statement of purpose, resume/CV, academic transcripts, and three letters of recommendation with their application. A writing sample is not required. More information regarding submission of transcripts and academic records can be found here.
International applicants receiving their degree from institutions where English is not the primary or official language must meet the English proficiency requirements established by the Graduate School. Additional information for international applicants can be found here.
Applying: Prospective students should complete an application through the Graduate School’s website. The fee to apply to graduate programs at UGA is $75, and the program is unable to waive this fee.
