While the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine will follow the University of Georgia’s winter holiday schedule, being closed December 25, 2025 – January 1, 2026, several of our services will remain open or have a modified schedule.
University of Georgia Veterinary Teaching Hospital

In observance of UGA’s Winter Break, the Veterinary Teaching Hospital will be open for emergencies only from December 25, 2025 – January 1, 2026. If your animal experiences a medical emergency during this time, please contact our Emergency Services at (706) 542-3221. The Veterinary Teaching Hospital will resume normal business hours and operations on Friday, January 2, 2026.
Georgia Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratories

The Georgia Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratories will be closed December 25th & January 1st.
Both diagnostic labs will be mostly closed with very limited staffing during the UGA holiday break December 26-31st. They are also experiencing more significant delays with shipments than normal this holiday season. Turn-around times are likely to be impacted.
USPS Regular Mail Information
Due to UGA-wide mail closures, the labs will receive USPS mail only on December 29th & 30th. It is strongly suggest that samples not be sent via USPS Regular Mail from December 20th to January 2nd. Please contact the Georgia Veterinary Diagnostic Labs for UPS prepaid shipping labels instead of using your local post office.

To arrange drop-off, please call (706) 207-3948 during the times listed below. Animals cannot be received outside these hours.
- December 25th: Closed (Emergency Cases only between 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM)
- December 26th: Routine Cases 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM
- December 29-31: Routine Cases 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM
- January 1st: Closed (Emergency Cases only between 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM)
Tifton Necropsy Services – Limited Drop-Off Hours
