PHC new clinician brings passion for both patient care and teaching
The University of Georgia Pet Health Center is excited to welcome Dr. Jude Thornton as a Clinical Assistant Professor. In his new role, Dr. Thornton will serve as a full-time clinician, providing primary care services to patients at the clinic while helping train the next generation of veterinarians.

What are your veterinary interests?
Client education, internal medicine, and dermatology
What previous experience did you have before coming to the UGA Pet Health Center?
Veterinarian at South Athens Animal Clinic; relief work at clinics across Georgia; independent work with Athens-Clarke County Animal Services
Any pets?
A cattle dog named Zuri
What are your hobbies outside of veterinary medicine?
Spending time with my toddler and baby, running, camping, and hiking

“While patient care is absolutely the most important thing for every veterinary visit, I have a heart for teaching our veterinary students how important it is to truly take care of the client as well. I love getting to know my patients, but I also love getting to know the people who come with them.”
With his passion for both patient care and student education, Dr. Thornton brings valuable expertise and energy to the Pet Health Center team.
The UGA Pet Health Center is a full-service, primary care veterinary clinic for cats and dogs. Services include routine wellness care, preventative medicine, and basic surgical procedures. Taking a team-based approach—clinicians, senior veterinary students, and staff work together to ensure every patient receives the highest quality of care.
