2016 Pathology Continuing Education Workshop

A full day of Pathology Continuing Education for large and small animal veterinarians and technicians. Become a better diagnostician, optimize your use of referral lab and in-house tests, improve competency in your pathology and microscopy skills, and gain expertise in selecting the best diagnostic samples possible in a practical hands-on workshop for both large and small animal practice.

    Selected modules will be combined for up to 7 hours of accredited CE.

  • Hematology Module (4 hours): CBC differential microscopy, identifying parasites, limitations of in-house analyzers, canine blood typing, and case-based discussions
  • Necropsy and Biopsy Module (4 hours) (Veterinarians only): Perform necropsies. Analyze, describe, and collect samples for histopathology, culture, PCR, toxicology, and other ancillary testing. Biosafety and zoonoses, herd/group issues, and photography tips
  • Urinalysis Module (2 hours): Microscopic sediment analysis, dipstick abnormalities, interpreting results, interactive case discussions
  • Serology Module (1.5 hours): Use and interpretation of antibody titers, in-house SNAP/WITNESS tests; guidance on rabies testing
  • Referral Laboratory (0.5 hours): Best practice selection and handling of samples for special chemistry, bacteriology, PCR, effusions and other cytologies
